As a Data Engineer ou will be responsible for the end-to-end data lifecycle, from ingestion and modeling to visualization and reporting, ensuring high performance, data quality, and robust governance across all systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize robust data ingestion pipelines to process vast and complex accommodation and student datasets.
- Create and manage historical data models within BigQuery to support efficient reporting, sophisticated analytics, and the core functionality of the Insights Tool.
- Focus on optimizing data lake performance to ensure rapid query execution and low-latency reporting for end-users.
- Implement and enforce rigorous data quality checks and governance best practices to ensure the reliability and trustworthiness of all insights presented to clients.
- Develop and maintain the underlying data architecture for visualization and reporting systems.
- Work closely with product managers, analysts, and the Dataset Team to understand data requirements and deliver reliable data products.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, working on large-scale, production-grade data systems.
- Expert proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines, including batch and streaming architectures.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, query optimization, and complex analytical workloads.
- Solid experience with BigQuery and the Google Cloud Platform, especially in designing and operating data lakes, data warehouses, and distributed processing.
- Expertise in data governance, including data quality frameworks, metadata management, lineage, security, compliance, and access controls.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and ensure reliability and scalability of the data platform.
- Experience with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code for data environments (Terraform, Cloud Build, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Python and modern data-engineering tooling (Airflow, Dataflow, dbt/Dataform, Pub/Sub, etc.) is highly desirable.
