How to become part of the Seazone team?
Joining this team means you will help build the workforce of the largest national partner of Airbnb and one of the Top 20 Startups on LinkedIn, adding to our purpose of bringing innovation and technology to the seasonal rental market with the goal of maximizing profitability for property owner clients and investors, while also ensuring an excellent experience for guests who choose Seazone properties as their destination away from home 🚀
What does our Data team do?
The Seazone Data team is responsible for transforming the company's data base into a competitive advantage. We build the infrastructure that supports analytics, AI products, and decision-making across all areas — ensuring that the right data reaches the right people and agents, at the right time, with quality and governance. More than just moving data from one place to another, the team is a strategic business partner and a central part of our AI First strategy.
💼 What you will do:
- Design and build robust and scalable data pipelines, from ingestion to the consumption layer, supporting analytics, AI products, and company operations;
- Structure and evolve the data lake and analytical layers, defining standards for modeling, quality, versioning, and data observability;
- Build the data infrastructure that powers our AI solutions, including pipelines for RAG, feature stores, vector databases, and dataset generation for agent evaluation;
- Act as a technical partner to the AI team and business areas, translating needs into data architecture and influencing decisions on what to automate, measure, and prioritize;
- Establish data engineering standards across the company: governance, lineage, cost control, monitoring, and SLAs;
- Mentor people in Data + AI First practices, elevating the team's maturity in using data and AI both in the product and in daily work routines;
- Make build vs. buy decisions regarding tools, frameworks, and platforms based on cost, risk, time-to-market, and team capacity.
🔍 What we expect from you:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with solid experience in high-volume production environments;
- Solid mastery of Python and SQL, with fluency in modern tools within the data ecosystem (dbt, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or equivalents);
- Practical experience with modern data warehouses (Nekt, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar) and analytical modeling layers;
- Proven track record of production pipelines handling real failures — data quality, uncontrolled costs, latency, scale, and governance in environments where users and decision-makers depend on the output;
- Intensive use of AI in your own workflow (Claude Code, Cursor, custom agents) and the ability to teach this to others;
- Product maturity: the ability to autonomously understand business problems, define hypotheses, measure outcomes, and prioritize based on impact — not just execute backlog;
- Strong communication and influence with business areas and leadership, translating business problems into data architecture and vice versa;
- Advanced AI First mindset: this means using artificial intelligence as the first resource to solve problems, optimize tasks, and gain productivity — before resorting to manual processes. Here at Seazone, AI is not a differentiator, it is part of how we work.
🤩 You stand out if you have:
- Previous experience technically leading a data front or squad, defining architecture and standards adopted by other engineers;
- Deep knowledge of at least one orchestration framework (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and clarity on when to use — and when not to use — each;
- Experience implementing data observability and quality (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations, Soda, or equivalent);
- Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector) and AI pipeline evaluation strategies (golden datasets, evals);
- Experience building data infrastructure for AI: pipelines for LLMs, dataset generation and curation, integration with vector databases, and support for RAG and agent use cases;
- Background in digital product, growth, sales, or operations — clear understanding of how data and AI impact the business funnel or process, not just the pipeline;
- Experience in the hospitality, tourism, or marketplace sectors;
- Relevant public contributions: open source, lectures, technical articles, or public cases on data engineering and AI in production;
- Passion for the company, the role, and your professional development.
